“You have the power to heal your life, and you need to know that. We think so often that we are helpless, but we’re not. We always have the power of our minds…Claim and consciously use your power.”
― Louise L. Hay

Personal Power

What is personal power at work?
Personal power is the power you have based on your skills, traits, characteristics, and other personal attributes.

True personal power doesn’t seek to dominate others. It is the ability to inspire and motivate others.

Position yourself as someone who can help others reach their objectives.

You need to own the power of your intelligence and opinions.

This week’s ADHD Advantage

Creativity

Divergent thinking is an essential part of creativity.

Creativity is the process of having original ideas that have value.

You can have lots of ways of interpreting a question and coming up with multiple answers.

You think laterally, not linear, or convergent.

This is one of your strongest ADHD skillsets and assets that you often take for granted.

You think everyone can see the ideas and solutions. They can’t!

“There is no doubt that creativity is the most important human resource of all. Without creativity, there would be no progress, and we would be forever repeating the same patterns”. – Edward de Bono

This week’s ADHD Challenge

Negative Thoughts

Negative thoughts and self-talk are dream stealers.

Nothing can sabotage you more than letting negative self-talk dominate your thoughts. Negative self-talk paralyses you from acting, holds you back from sharing your thoughts and ideas, and prevents you from taking risks and exploring new opportunities.

These thoughts will literally drain your energy and optimism.

Listen to these negative voices and label them as such. Self-awareness is the first step to owning your power. Don’t let these limiting beliefs control your life and your success.

Release the thoughts, reframe, and replace with positive affirmations and visions of your goals already achieved.

Solutions

  • Practise thought awareness. Backtrack your negative feelings to the thoughts behind them.
  • Replace negative self-talk with positive affirmations.
  • Realise your limitations are self-imposed.
  • Rise above false beliefs and your outdated identity.
  • Learn to control your thinking.
  • Use the power of your conscious ADHD mind to serve you.
  • Be the driver – not the passenger.

Weekly Tip

Practise self-care to give you the energy and endurance to achieve your major life goals and dreams.

When you’ve taken steps to care for your mind and body, you’ll be better equipped to live your best life.

Unfortunately, however, many people view self-care as a luxury, rather than a priority. Consequently, they’re left feeling overwhelmed, tired, and ill-equipped to handle life’s inevitable challenges.

Self-care isn’t a one size fits all strategy. Your self-care plan will need to be customized to your needs and what is currently going on in your life. You don’t want to wait until you’ve reached your breaking point. The goal is to take steps each day to make sure that you are getting what you need to deal with the stress and challenges you face in your daily life.     Elizabeth Scott, PhD

“An empty lantern provides no light. Self-care is the fuel that allows your light to shine brightly”.

Take care, enjoy
